Variants organize different configurations within a single "parent" product, where each configuration has a different SKU.
Variant Dimensions define the options by which you may configure the variants. (i.e., a cotton t-shirt product might have variants based on two dimensions: size and color.
This article covers how to create a Variant Dimension and how to assign and edit products as a Variation.*
Create a Variant dimension
1. Navigate through Admin> Product Settings> Variant Dimensions and select Add Variant Dimension in the right corner of the Variant Dimension table.
2. Name the variant attribute and enter the options for the variant in each text field by clicking Add Option as needed.
Assigning a Product a Variation
1. Select the Product and go to the Settings tab. Check the box within Variant Settings (Allow for Variants), choose at least one variant attribute, and Select Save.
There should now be a Variants tab for that product. Additionally, you can assign the primary and otherwise attributes that have variations for that product.
Adding and Editing Product Variation Information
You can input variant data within the Variants tab for a product, including related images, descriptions, and SKU data, by selecting the Edit button within the Product's Variant tab of the Product View..
There is a dropdown menu displaying each variant's information, which is editable by clicking the Edit button.
