In this article we will cover the basic navigation of the Product Information Management (PIM) module, or, what you will see when you open the PIM page.
- Products Menu
- Channels
- Catalogs
- Search
- Products Table
To click into the main page of the PIM, you will need to click “Products” on the top of your Image Relay Library.
If you do not see a Products option, it may be one of two reasons. First is that it has not been turned on for your organization. If you think you purchased the PIM and don’t see it, please contact support@imagerelay.com. The other reason may be that your permissions are not set to access the PIM. You will need to contact your internal admin to gain access to the PIM.
From the Products tab, you can quickly change your view from the Products library to the types, existing product channels, and catalogs using the dropdown menu.
1. Products Menu
On the lefthand side of the page you will see the categories that have been created by your admin. These categories help organize the library and help you find the products you are looking for more easily. You can click on a top level category, or drill down into subcategories.
Beneath the categories you will see the number of uncategorized products in the library. You should still be able to click on these, they just have not been given a category assignment.
2. Channels
The Channels option allows you to view and export products and specific product data specifically for a certain partner, distributor, etc. The fields and product attributes within each Channel Template can be mapped for each separate business partner and product subset based on their specific requirements. Examples would mapping Product Data for upload to i.e. Home Depot or Walmart.
3. Catalogs
Catalogs allow you to set and share a custom subset of products. For each Catalog, you will need to choose a Product View determine which Product Attributes are displayed. Read more about Catalogs in this article.
4. Search
At the top of the page you will see a product search bar which helps you filter through all products that match the terms of your search. You will also see the export button, which will allow you to export a CSV of selected products. Next to that is the Add Product button which allows you to add a new product manually (as opposed to a CSV import).
5. Product Table
Listed in the middle of the page is the products table. This shows the products that have been created most recently in order. You can also click on categories in the menu area and see the products within that category listed in the table.
Next to each product is a checkbox. Using this checkbox will allow you to select all or several products at one time. Once selected, you have the option to:
- Add to Export - Which will add it to the export area access at the top of the the page next to search
- Assign Type- Assigns product a product type from the existing options
- Assign Category - Organizes the product into a set category or can be put into a new one
- Add to Catalog - Assigns the product to an existing collection or a new one made for it.
- Add to Channel - Allows you to add the product to and existing channel by selecting a template.
- Delete - Removes the product from the product library
